Course overview
Working within the framework of ISO 16175-3:2010 Information and documentation - Principles and functional requirements for records in electronic office environments - Part 3: Guidelines and functional requirements for records in business systems, this course explores how organisations can develop recordkeeping strategies for managing records generated, accessed or stored in business systems. During the course participants will apply ISO 16175-3:2010 to a variety of recordkeeping scenarios including the evaluation of business systems for recordkeeping capability and developing functional requirements for recordkeeping in business systems.
The course will also draw on the key requirements contained in ISO 15489-1 Records Management and provide clarity on the current best practice records management standards framework in Australia and New Zealand. This course is suitable for participants from private and public sector organisations.
Course aims
The aim of this course is to provide participants with an opportunity to develop an understanding of the application of recordkeeping requirements for business systems and skills in analysing and developing strategies for managing records across business systems.

By the end of the course participants will be able to successfully identify and evaluate the recordkeeping capability of business systems and identify the risks and options for managing records generated, managed, stored and accessed via business systems.

Day 2: Applying ISO 16175-3:2010 within organisations
- Using the functional requirements for evaluating existing business systems
- Using the functional requirements for the acquisition and design of business systems
- Using the recordkeeping functional requirements for recordkeeping audits
- Assessing the risks
- Exploring the strategic options
- The role and purpose of eDRMS within a digital recordkeeping environment
